soenchisWelcome to Soenchi's Aruban Cuisine!

soenchis

The food prepared in our Aruban kitchen is a composition of various cultures, and is mainly called cuminda crioyo (native food). The word "creole" (often used in various cultures) means native to the region. In Aruba, crioyo cooking can be found as a preparation in which fresh red snapper or other locally-caught fish is cooked; in a gumbo-style soup in which "yambo" (okra), red snapper, salt beef, and shrimp are combined with vegetables, herbs and spices; in simple fish soups and sauces for pork, beef, or chicken. The most important composite dishes are funchi and pambati; various kinds of bread and the soups.
